I'm not trying to hijack the SF vs Recoil comparison, but I would suggest anyone who is interested in trying graphite iron shafts take a look at Paderson as well (good selection on Golf Works). When I put a good swing on that thing now, the ball launch and flight is something to behold. I've recently put a Paderson Ballistic 80 in my Titleist U510 3 iron, replacing the stock Tensei AV 70HY, which I also found too unstable. I don't like the feel of a board, and am on the R/S flex cusp, swing speed-wise, but Paderson shafts tend to play a little stiffer in terms of flex and torque. I'm currently switching out the ESX for another set of TS-I, also R flex. The ESX 460 are lighter, torque-ier (sp?) and therefore less stable than the TS-I I played previously. I'd previously switched to graphite iron shafts (Paderson Kinetixx TS-I R) because of some elbow and wrist issues. I've never played the Steel Fiber, but I was fitted into a set of JPX 919 Forged w/ Recoil ESX 460 F3 a little more than a year ago. I do believe that if you get properly fit, because I think it is more difficult on your own with Steelfibers, both Recoil and Steelfibers are just awesome iron shafts and you can't go wrong with either shaft and in the end I think it usually comes down to a personal preference. I am hoping to get my hands on some Cobra King Tour MIM irons and shaft them with my Recoil Prototypes which should be a really good applies to apples comparison. To be fair, I could play Recoil Prototypes and have almost identical performance as my Steelfibers but the combination of T100-S/Steelfibers is just working really well. For me at least, the Recoils have a very dampened feel and the Steelfiber 95's feel like nothing, similar to hitting the dead center of an iron. The 95 r-flex feels much better because I can feel them load and unload, something I did not feel with the Steelfiber s-flex. I am glad I am a Shaft Ho and didn't give up on Steelfibers after playing 95 s-flex shafts and finding them too stout and could not sell them fast enough. ![]() I am a long time Recoil player and absolutely love the Recoil Prototype shafts. I haver to admit I am surprised by the Steelfiber 95 r-flex shafts in my T100-S irons. * I tried several steel dampening inserts including Sensicore, Pro Soft and a few home made inserts but none of them had any effect on my tendonitis. Fwiw, while I have played 110's in both, but I have no experience with lighter weight Recoil or Steelfiber shafts. For me at least performance is virtually identical between Steelfiber and Recoil Prototypes with feel being the difference while regular Recoil 95s are a little easier to load and unload but still very accurate. Great performance and a soft feel that is very non steel. If you like the dampened feel of graphite the Recoils are hard to beat. I think they are the perfect shaft for someone that prefers steel (or thinks they prefer steel) but want the advantages of graphite. Steelfibers are very popular on the LPGA Tour which more closely resembles most of our golf swings. This is one of the reasons they are so successful on all the tours where they grew up playing steel and after hitting thousands/millions of shots they made the switch. The Recoils have an obvious dampened feel that is nothing like steel while the Steelfibers have a feel somewhere between steel and graphite but closer to steel imo. That said, I find the feel quite different. I would compare the Steelfiber i95's in r-flex to Recoil 95 F4 (s-flex). After talking with the Engineers at Aerotech, I went to r-flex and the results were much better. I originally tried to play Steelfiber 95's in s-flex which played like x-flex for me and I sold them after 2 rounds. But I have a set of Recoil Prototype 95's on standby for my next set so I wish I could check both. I hope I don't skew your poll as I am playing Steelfiber 95's in my T100-S at the moment. Elbow tendonitis was the cause of my switching to graphite* but performance and feel was the reason I never went back to steel. I don't think there is any doubt that graphite reducers vibration and that effects our joints. ![]() Dali was very similar to his deceased brother and said that.
Based on this evidence, inhibiting mTOR signalling has gained great attention as anti-cancer therapy. Few mutations have been characterized in MTOR, the gene encoding for the mTOR kinase (Grabiner et al., 2014). Pathway hyperactivation occurs most commonly through loss-of-function mutations in tumor suppressors, such as phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN), tuberous sclerosis 1/2 (TSC1/2), neurofibromin 1/2 (NF1/2), as well as through oncogenic mutations in KRAS, PIK3CA, or AKT (Grabiner et al., 2014). Given its capability to integrate proliferative, antiapoptotic and angiogenic signalling by connecting VEGF, HIFs and growth factor receptors, the mTOR pathway has a pivotal role in human cancers. mTORC2 also regulates the organization of the actin cytoskeleton through activation of PKCα, paxillin and small GTPases, Rho and Rac (Laplante and Sabatini, 2012). mTORC2 is resistant to rapamycin: this complex may phosphorylate Akt at serine 473 (S473), required for Akt activation (Feldman et al., 2009). Protein observed with Rictor 1/2 (Protor 1/2) and DEPTOR are additional regulatory components (Li et al., 2014). The mTOR complex 2 (mTORC2) core is composed of mTOR, rapamycin insensitive companion of mTOR (Rictor), stress-activated protein kinase-interacting protein 1 (mSIN1) and mLST8. Moreover, mTOR regulates translation of the hypoxia inducible factor 1α (HIF-1α) and induces HIF-1/Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) dependent angiogenesis (Laughner et al., 2001). An important function of mTORC1 is the activation of ribosomal p70S6 kinase (S6K1) and suppression of 4E-BPs, resulting in enhanced translation of mRNAs encoding cell-cycle regulators and promotion of G1–S cell-cycle transition (Bjornsti and Houghton, 2004). mTORC1 is sensitive to the selective inhibitor rapamycin and is activated through growth factor via the canonical phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/Akt pathway. Additional components include DEP-domain containing mTOR interacting protein (DEPTOR) and Proline–rich Akt substrate 40 kDa (PRAS40) (Li et al., 2014). ![]() The core components of mTOR complex 1 (mTORC1) consist of mTOR, mammalian lethal with sec-13 protein 8 (mLST8) and regulatory associated protein of TOR (Raptor). In mammalian cells, mTOR exists in two complexes, mTORC1 (Hara et al., 2002) and mTORC2 (Dos et al., 2004), which are differentially regulated and have distinct substrate specificities. ![]() The mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) is a serine/threonine-specific kinase able to regulate cell proliferation and survival by integrating nutrient, mitogenic and hormonal signals (Bjornsti and Houghton, 2004 Abraham and Gibbons, 2007). ![]() Your choice!
